Job Description

Role Brief
The bookkeeper is primarily responsible for maintaining the company’s key accounting records. Day-to-day activities include recording transactions such as income and expenses and posting them to various accounts.

About the Role
Accurately recording day to day transactions such as income and outgoings, and posting them to various accounts – recording of debits and credits
Verifying that transactions are recorded in the correct account and cost centre
Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
Processing payments
Conducting banking activities
Preparation of cashflow forecast
Reconciling reports to third-party records such as bank statements.
Process accounts receivable/payable including reconciling and processing payments, invoicing and revenue recognition,
Accurately submit taxes in a timely manner
Use knowledge of local laws to comply with reporting requirements,
Conduct reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on a needed basis,
Any other duties assigned by manager.

Basic accounting knowledge
Understanding accounting best practices
Data entry skills
High degree of accuracy and attention to details
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Professionalism and organization skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, Rwanda tax law, and general ledger
At least 1 - 2 years experience working in accounting or bookkeeping
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
Knowledge of any accounting system
Fluent in English, French is an added advantage
